The first filming on the pilot for the new HBO series ‘Game of Thrones’ based on the novels by George R. R. Martins A Song of Ice and Fire series, began this week.
Most of the filming will take place in studios in Belfast, but this first stint is taking place in Doune Castle near Scotland. Though built by the grandson of Robert the Bruce and being in existance for more than 600 years. This castles great claim to fame is that it was where a large proportion of the Quest for the Holy Grail was filmed.
So the back drop of the French taunting scene, the Camelot dance and SirĀ Lancelot at the wedding, will also be the backdrop to good portions of the filming of Game of Thrones..
