New Characters for Season 2

HBO has released a new video featuring cast interviews for some of the new characters being introduced in season 2. We get to meet Stannis Baratheon (Stephen Dillane), rightful heir to the Iron throne given Ned Stark’s uncovering of the fact that Joffrey is not the Son of his brother Robert Baratheon. Ser Davos Seaworth (Liam Cunningham) is fiercely loyal to Stannis. A former smuggler elevated to the position of Lord and granted a Knighthood after he was able to help Stannis’ army to survive a siege (thanks in no small part to the wares smuggled on his pirate ship) long enough for Eddard Starks army to to their aid. He stands in between Stannis and Mellisandre (Carice Von Houten), a woman from a distant land who brings her own religion with her – believing in the the Lord of Light. She also possesses unnatural powers and Davos does not trust her.

Margaery Tyrell (Natalie Dormer) and her brother Loras (Finn Jones) form two points of love triangle with a twist. Margaery is to marry Renly, the other Baratheon Brother, but the problem is Renly only has eyes for her brother, Loras Tyrell.

At the North wall we meet Qhorin Halfhand (Simon Armstrong), one of the greatest rangers of all time, and newfound father figure to Jon Snow.

Patrick Malahide plays Balon Greyjoy, father of Theon Greyjoy a boy who has spent much of his life in winterfell having been taken from his father when he was very young.
